Dear Birth Moms,
Yesterday was Easter Sunday and I hope you all had a wonderful day spent with family and love surrounding you. A friend texted me yesterday, wishing me a happy Easter, but she also added something that I needed to hear and know. She said this, "I hope this Easter brings you a new year of joy and healing! I pray for you daily." Reading that gave me a smile and a refreshing outlook on Easter, because it really is a day of new beginnings and renewal.
Today I want to wish you all the same. When I walked out of church in the morning, it was sunny and beautiful. However, that night after seeing Easter Parade at the movies, I walked outside to snow blowing in my face. I live in Indiana, so random snow is not unheard of. I am always the first to say that I hate the snow and cold. But last night, I couldn't help but think that maybe this is our new fresh start. Today the snow will begin to melt away and give way to the spring season that is sure to arrive.
Your burdens and baggage have already been washed, white as snow. And so, I wish you restored faith and joy every morning when you wake. I wish you healing and understanding in your journey through grief. I wish you boundless and unconditional love - the real kind, the kind that's nearly impossible to describe through spoken word. I wish you helping hands that reach out to you in your darkest times, and I wish for you to reach out your own when your companions experience the same. I wish you forgiveness from those you have hurt, forgiveness for those who have hurt you, and forgiveness to yourself for the things that you cannot change. Lastly, I pray for you to have mercy, hope, and peace.
